Improved Mental Health
Exercise and improve mental health go hand in hand. When we exercise we release endorphins which make us feel happier and positive.
Martial arts helps to keep you physically fit which promotes to our overall well-being.
Not only does physical exercise help, but the lessons and skills taught at TKD improve our responses to situations. Whilst martial art may be viewed as aggressive and dangerous, those who practice it are often the opposite! Tae Kwon Do helps us learn to channel our anger (whilst providing a safe outlet), control our emotions and diffuse situations.
TJ TKD instructors are Level 2 Mental Health First Aid qualified helping advise students who may be struggling and identify precursors to further deterioration.
“After going through a bereavement I had a lot of underlying anger. I’m not sure where I would be today if I hadn’t have been encouraged to join Tae Kwon Do. I found a safe environment to let go and learnt the art of self-control. Tae Kwon Do has had a huge positive impact on my life” – Tyler Clarke
