FAQ's
Why should I join?
You can probably swim, right? We nearly all know how to swim, just in-case we fall in open water. We hope it never happens but if it does, we know what to do
So why don’t we learn to defend ourselves? Keeping the benefits of fitness, strength, coordination, friendship and many more aside, we learn a very useful tool. You’ve learnt to swim, just in-case, so why not learn to defend yourself … just in-case
Can I just show up?
You are more than welcome to just show up, however a quick message to double check class availability is always worthwhile! If our classes our full, you’re welcome to watch a get a feel of the classes, next time we’ll have you joining in.
Please note that all starters are required to fill out a waiver (under 18’s need a guardian to sign for them)
What do I wear?
We recommend wearing flexible and light clothing. A PE kit for children is perfect!
Please note we train barefoot (unless health reasons prevent otherwise).
What do I bring?
Bring yourself, suitable clothing (see above), water bottles and attitude to work hard and have fun!
Do I need to fill out any forms?
Yes! Everyone needs to sign a waiver. This is actually an application for your full licence and provides both parties with appropraite insurance
Is it dangerous?
No, not when trained correctly! Our instructors are highly qualified and will set-up the classes in the safest manner. Whilst we may spar (fight) it is always controlled and ALWAYS semi-contact. At TJ TKD we take all appropriate steps to minimise the risk of injury, however it must be remembered that Tae Kwon Do is a contact sport and there is always a small risk of injury.
Can parents watch?
Most definitely, however joining in is much better! TJ TKD fully supports family training and would love to see parents involved too.
If you’re not quite ready to join in yourself, then we encourage parents to stay and see the lessons for themselves. Tae Kwon Do, like all sports, requires some ferrying around by parents to gradings and events so we encourage parents to be involved and active.
How much is it?
TJ TKD provides exceptional value for money. The only comparison we can draw cost wise is with the gym, however not only will you get stronger and fitter you’ll reap a whole host of other benefits that simply can’t be replicated elsewhere. Please refer to our membership page for costs.
